We leave it open, giving our customers the power to decide if they want to continue maintaining and developing in the legacy code, usually COBOL or PL/1 or start using the functionally equivalent Java code that the Heirloom platform generates. If a customer’s aim is to move completely to Java they can do so at a pace that works for them. So, when one of the world’s leading luxury automotive manufacturers decided to move away from the mainframe, Heirloom provided the flexibility they needed to modernize while staying in control.
